Roland and Emmy Hearn have been married for twenty five years, November 2010, and have four children of whom they are unashamedly proud; Kaylah 21, Jonathan 19, Braden 16 and Tylah 15. Roland and Emmy met at Australian Nazarene Theological College in Thornlands, Brisbane while they were preparing for a life- time of ministry. They met in March of '85 and were married in the following November. Their only regret is they waited so long.

NewStart RiverCity is the fourth church of which they have been the pastor and which they hope wil be their last. “Each time we have pastored a church and had to move on it has been a very sad experience. We are ready to stay in one place for the rest of our lives,” Roland said when asked how long they thought they would be able to be a part of this church.

They have served in churches from rural Queensland to the massive Metroplex of Dallas, TX. Roland was born and raised in Brisbane and grew up in Chermside West. His whole life he has felt he would pastor in this area. In addition to planting this church Roland occassionaly drives buses for Brisbane Transport and is studying for a BA at UQ majoring in psychology and religion. Emmy was born and grew up in Sydney. She is currently the manager of the Starbucks at Westfield Chermside and loves for friends to drop in and say “hi.”

Roland is a sports fan and Emmy is the easiest person in the world with whom to become friends. We think you will love getting to know them.
